These are experienced professionals who provide technical and professional assistance to the Department of Agriculture for the Agriculture Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program.Benefits: Paid Health Insurance Premium for positions budgeted at 60+ hours per pay period, Accrued Vacation and Sick Leave, Paid Federal Holidays, and optional Vision and Dental Insurance available for positions budgeted at 35+ hours per pay period.Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. An ?ACES Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the USDA-NRCS and administered by NEW Solutions.This opportunity applies to applicants legally eligible to work in the United States.Qualifications:Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in Agronomy, Biology, Environment and Natural Resources, Forestry, or other Plant Sciences related field OR BA/BS Degree in Plant Sciences, Agronomy, Environment and Natural ResourcesKnowledge and understanding of NRCS functionality and extensive experience working with NRCS conservation planning and pest management related tasks in addition to strong working knowledge of the USDA National Organic Program.Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPointMS Teams, Zoom, RUSLE2, Win-PSTDuties:Assist the team with duties related to the development of technical guides and other technical resources, revision of handbooks and manuals, technical assistance to state and National staff, and provide training associated with the Agronomy Discipline relevant to organic production and management. The primary purpose of the position is to serve as an organic specialist, assisting the team with high-priority tasks to provide support to national, state, and field staff. Specifically, the position will have the opportunity to work on mutually agreed-upon tasks in support of agency organic initiatives.
