Job Description

The Secret Service is seeking retirees of the Federal Employee Retirement System (FERS) or Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) to support our integrated mission and impart knowledge and experience to the current workforce. The Criminal Investigator's mission is to perform critical protective and investigative assignments. The Criminal Investigator has accomplished this mission through a tradition of honor, integrity, and a commitment to excellence. Dual Compensation Off-Set Waiver for Criminal Investigators (Special Agents) Approved for Rehires: This announcement recruits CSRS and FERS annuitants on a limited basis with a waiver of salary offset (if requested) under certain conditions, not to exceed 12/31/2028. Annuitants reemployed with a salary offset waiver are eligible for: Full annuity and full Federal salary Annual and sick leave (not applicable for intermittent schedules) Full-time, part-time, or intermittent work schedules Overtime (on a full schedule), with hours counting towards maximum hour limitations Law Enforcement Availability Pay (LEAP) and 25% additional compensation added to locality pay Offer of a 4-year, non-status, term appointment in the competitive service for new hires under this authority Potential salary offset (reduction) past December 31, 2028, if the waiver is not renewed Annuitants with a salary offset waiver are NOT eligible for: Additional retirement coverage beyond Social Security TSP Contributions Annual, sick, or holiday pay (applicable only for intermittent schedules) Reemployed annuitants may only receive one appointment per job series. Qualification requirements: To qualify for the GS-12 level (salary $75,706), you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent, involving complex protection assignments such as: Covering designated security posts at official functions and restricting access to authorized personnel, including close proximity to protectees and measures to ensure their safety Providing protection during travel with a protectee, supporting protective operations, interviewing unauthorized individuals, and writing reports Applying protective investigation and case management methodologies For more information on Series 1811 requirements, visit: OPM Qualification Standards for Occupational Series - 1811 The above qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
