Job Title: Gardener (Part Time)

Job Summary:
As part of the Goodstone Team, you will play a vital role in enhancing our boutique hotel's aesthetic appeal and overall guest experience. You will be responsible for maintaining and caring for our gardens, landscaping, and outdoor areas. Your passion for horticulture, attention to detail, and creativity will contribute to creating a beautiful and welcoming environment for our guests. With a focus on the natural beauty surrounding the estates, you will assist the Estate Manager in ensuring the maintenance and presentation of the gardens, grounds, and external property are always impeccable. They create a welcoming first impression for our guests.

Essential Functions

  • Regularly mow lawns, trim hedges, and prune trees and shrubs to maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance.
  • Weed removal and control to ensure a weed-free garden area.
  • Plant and care for flowers, plants, and seasonal displays to enhance the visual appeal of the estate's grounds.
  • Monitor and maintain the hotel's irrigation system, ensuring all plants and lawns receive adequate water.
  • Identify and repair any leaks or issues with the irrigation system.
  • Assess soil quality and perform necessary tests to determine appropriate fertilization and improvement methods.
  • Apply fertilizers and soil conditioners as needed to promote plant health.
  • Identify and address common garden pests and diseases promptly and effectively.
  • Implement eco-friendly pest control methods to minimize chemical use.

  • Suggest creative ideas for garden design improvements.
  • Assist with seasonal changes in garden displays and decorations to create a welcoming atmosphere for guests year-round.
  • Leaf removal and snow clearing during the fall and winter seasons.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and best practices in all gardening activities.
  • Promote sustainability by using eco-friendly gardening practices and products whenever possible.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • At least 3 years of experience and/or possess a landscape/ornamental horticulture degree or certification.
  • Knowledge of various plant species, garden maintenance techniques, and irrigation systems
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks that may require lifting, bending, and kneeling
  • Methodical and well-managed working methods to ensure all priority areas are maintained and well-presented throughout the week.
  • Flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, and during adverse weather conditions.
Job Type:
Part Time: Must be able to work a varied schedule, including weekdays, weekends, and some holidays.
