Job Description
In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:
- Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
- Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
- Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
- Remain in "valid" Visa status as applicable.
- A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
- Federal Work Study student may apply.
- In good disciplinary standing.
- Must be located in the U.S.
For complete program details, please go to our website: Berklee's Office of Summer Programs will be offering 15+ short-term programs this year in the areas of music, theater, and dance and will be welcoming 1,500+ students to campus over the course of June, July, and August. The Program Support Assistant provides operational and administrative support for Summer Programs.
Work Schedule: up to 15-30 hours per week, as needed and determined by program directors.
Job Duties: - Provide exemplary customer service when interacting with program participants and families; may involve greeting participants and families, answering questions, directing traffic, and otherwise acting as a resource for participants
- Provide on-the-ground support for program directors as needed, including classroom assistance, monitoring jam sessions and other program activities
- Run errands on-campus as needed
- May include general office support, including printing, organizing, and distributing student schedules and written music to be used as teaching materials
- Connect with the MTDI students. Work on choreography for the guest artists.
- Assist with writing program for final performance, acquire/edit music (if needed) for choreographers.
- Check in with students. Walk students to physical therapy if needed.
- Attend off campus excursions.
- Run rehearsals if needed.
- Create an evening mock rehearsal schedule. (weekly)
- Other tasks as required.
Required Qualifications: - Advanced level dancer in musical theater dance.
- Able to read music and make copies of sheet music for the voice teacher and the music director.
- Helpful to have attended or assisted MTDI in the past.
- Ability to work with various choreographers in various MT dance styles.
- Must be punctual and reliable with a friendly and upbeat attitude. Lateness will not be tolerated.
- Experience working with customer service, especially face-to-face.
- Familiarity with Berklee campus and key buildings and offices.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Must be available for in-person work at the Boston campus during the summer months.
